For Immediate Release – 9/16/2016
October 22, 2016 at 11:00 am, The Blind Pig will be opening for business in the old city hall at 132 E. Superior Street in the Historic Arts & Theatre District. Formerly Tycoons, this will be a very different venue. No longer a supper club, The Blind Pig will be a gastro pub and ale house featuring locally raised Berkshire pork, and Red Angus/Hereford beef. In addition, all of the bread and buns will be made daily from scratch. Creative fusion udon noodle dishes will also be a key part of the fare. Fitger’s Brewhouse beer will continue to be offered on tap, as well as an exclusive beer “The Blind Pig Coconut Stout” crafted by head brewer Frank Kaszuba exclusively for The Blind Pig. Rathskeller mixologist Cade Grover has concocted a line-up of exclusive cocktails as well, including a beautiful Lake Superior Margarita.
The old Midwestern term for a speakeasy, was called a blind pig, thus the genesis of the new name. Beyond all the great local-centric food and drink options, The Blind Pig will also expand live music Thursday through Sunday, including Sunday Night Blues, taking full advantage of one of the best stages in the district. The Blind Pig will feature a high-energy casual environment and will be open for lunch and dinner. No changes are planned with The Rathskeller other than the inclusion of all the great new drinks and beer. Tycoons will remain open until October 15th. Also, The Rathskeller will remain open during the time that Tycoons is closed for the switchover.
